Project approach

JTI (Vietnam) Pte Ltd. aims to offset and compensate for the CO₂ emissions generated in the manufacture of their products while adding value to small rural communities in Vietnam.

To this end, WSS and JTI have agreed on carbon capture, offsetting and storage services suitable to reduce JTI's carbon footprint while adding value to the environment, biodiversity and the well-being of Vietnam's local population to accomplish.

Offsetting JTI's carbon emissions:

3 hectares of bamboo plantation in Thanh Hoa province have been planted and maintained, equivalent to 156 tons of carbon sequestered annually.

30-40 tons of low-grade bamboo were buried underground in 2021 and 2022, offsetting 45 tons and 46 tons of CO₂ in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Since 2020, Carbon Solutions International - Water Solutions South-East Asia has been holding various volunteer activities for JTI Vietnam and Vinataba volunteers annually.

On July 22, 2022, despite the difficult weather conditions, volunteers from JTI Vietnam and Vinataba participated in a variety of activities at Thanh Tam Eco Park in Tho Xuan District, Thanh Hoa Province with great enthusiasm.

Also, the volunteers took part in tending bamboo plantations to support the local environment. Overall, the dedication and hard work of the volunteers makes a significant positive impact on the community and the environment.
