On the premises of the Lich Hoi Thuong elementary school in Soc Trang / Vietnam, a decentralized bamboo treatment plant was operated for 3 years with the aim of combining CO₂ sequestration with an innovative, natural zero-energy wastewater treatment.
The waste water (about 20 cubic meters per day) came from the school and from a nearby market.
Our measures have been extraordinarily successful. We have shown that a decentralized sewage system
can be used for the purification of highly contaminated waste water at very low operating costs,
is reliable and easy to operate and can contribute to carbon capture when combined with biomass production.
Summary of results:
cleaning performance:
BOD5 = 86%, COD = 84%
CO₂ sequestration: 22 tons/year
Operating costs: Approx. 50 euros / month
